Community Kitchen

A Community Kitchen is being started in the Kooweerup Community Hub on the grounds of the Kooweerup Regional Health Service, 215 Rosssiter Rd, Kooweerup.
Information sessions have been held and from this a Community Kitchen group has started meeting every Tuesday betwen 11.00am and 1.00pm. 

If you would like to become inovlved with this group, or would like to reister your interest to be involved in another Community Kitchen group (such as an evening group) please call the Health Promotion team on (03) 5997 9679.

 

FRESH - Interactive cooking session

The Fifth FRESH session is titled 'Pots and Pans - how to prepare food for chronic disease prevention' targeted at anyone who would like to know about the importance of food and nutrition in prevention and protection from chronic diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes, ishaemic heart disease, stroke, depression and osteoporosis to name a few.  We will prepare from scratch two delicious and inexpensive dishes brimming with healthy ingredients. 

This session will run on Monday 26th July 2010 from 11:00am - 1:00pm, at the Kooweerup Regional Health Service Community Shed.

Come & Dig With Dad (Starting 20th February)

Come & Dig with Dad is an organised activity and opportunity for local fathers and their children to be involved and engaged with each other and similar likeminded dads.  The monthly sessions will provide fun activities and information sessions around gardening and allow each to be involved in the local community garden as well as the great outdoors.

  • Develop gardening skills
  • Work together as a team
  • Have fun (essential)
  • Tools & morning tea provided
  • Registration required

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hour course which teaches first aid skills for mental health crisis situations and the early stages of mental health problems. This course is focused on mental health first aid for adults.

New dates to be released shortly.



Pitstop- Tune Up For Fathers

A 'parenting tune-up' for fathers because kids matter!

Pitstop is a parenting course for Dads, or significant other male persons in a childs life (i.e. Grandad, stepdad, etc). It is a great parenting information session where men can get the facts on Fatherhood.

Get Active For Life

A group fitness class for over 50s, making a lifestyle change for the better, improve strength, flexibility, balance and endurance.

Starting Tuesday 23rd February 2010 at the Kooweerup Regional Health Service.
Cost $25 for six weeks.

Giant Community Garage Sale

The Men's Shed are holding a Giant Community Garage Sale on the 15th August, 2009 at the shed located at 215 Rossiter Road, Kooweerup on Saturday 15th August, 2009 from 8.00 a.m. to 12 Noon.  We invite the community to attend and grab a coffee, BBQ breakfast maybe, or a handful of bargains and help the shed raise important funds to enable further tools and equipment to be purchased;  your support is greatly appreciated.

For those who can't make the day, we have attached a list of current product that is available to purchase prior to the event, so please have a look and make an offer;  no reasonable offer refused.

Note, if you purchase from the web, you will have to come and collect the items and all payments will need to be finalised at time of collection.

 




The community garden located at the front of Kooweerup Regional Health Service is a partnership project between the Kooweerup Secondary College and the Kooweerup Health Service.
