Kooweerup Community Garden

Producing our own food cultivating flowers and herbs and creating a growing environment are some of the life skills that modern living has largely left behind. Community gardens are a way of inviting people to rediscover these elements of life and living.

Garden are often rich places of contrast and diversity they can be productive or ornamental , some view them as places for relaxation others think hard work, They can be native ,deciduous sensory, productive and like the contrast of the garden so too the polarity of lives and experience that enriches our communities and our people.

Research has shown that gardens created through community effort will likewise reflect the diversity of our community.

The Garden located at the front of Kooweerup Regional Health Service is a partnership project between the Kooweerup Secondary College and the Health Service.

It has been funded by a grant from the Open Garden Scheme and Nestle with support from the Cardinia council. We are also very fortunate to be a partner agency with Green Corps which is an Australian Government youth development and environmental training programme for young people aged between 17 and 20 years.

Everyone is welcome to come and participate in the garden. We are looking for keen gardeners to assist with the cultivation of the garden and mentor the young up and coming gardeners and others with little experience.

Look to coming events link for our workshops and activities - Contact Aileen 59979679 or register below.
